The weekly perspective

One question to ask yourself

What lights you up, and what drains you?

Seems pretty simple, but for me, my energy state is what determines my mood, productivity, relationship dynamics and really my day-to-day wellbeing. Since being pregnant, I've found myself having / choosing to be infinitely more aware of the impact of my choices, relationships and experiences on my energy. Journal on this and be mindful as you move through your day - what lights you up and what drains you?  Is this temporary or a phase of life? Are these mandatory part of your life, or is there something you can change?

Something to consider

"My job as a parent is to just help her find the words to her emotions, her experience & be able to help her identify that & move through it" - Cameron Diaz

Don't worry I'm not about to be handing out parenting advice, but this stuck with me, not only because I think CD is an OG hero, but because we often talk when becoming more self-compassionate, about the importance of parenting yourself. If you consider this a definition of parenting, I wonder how often do you take time to identify your emotions, name them, experience them and move through them? How often instead, do you distract, suppress, repress and run away from? Journal on this, because parenting yourself in this way is life changing for your habits and peace.

One thing I'd tell my younger self.

Your body will change as an outcome of a well-lived life - what a gift of tapestry that is

Like many of you, I lost years of my life assuming my body was supposed to remain the same or indeed, only get smaller - those were my 2 options. These 2 options guided many of my decisions and disordered habits. I saw Renee Zellweger share something similar recently, speaking of the gift of our bodies changing as a result of the gift of a wholehearted life. Can you lean into this?

One thing to try this week

Complete 3, 45 minute productivity blocks per day

After our ETPHD mentoring group call the other week, I set the coaches the challenge of trying this out. Almost all of them have reported being more productive, having greater output, yet spending less time on work simply by following this strategy. It creates more productive hours and gets rid of the 'busy', procrastinating hours. Put your phone away, ensure this is your minimum, with no distractions and definitely no emails.

A few things to tell you...

Saturday 27th April - save the date. ETPHD event details are coming this week. As last time, we've kept the venue pretty small because the whole idea is that we connect with you and get a chance to talk to any of you that actually want to talk. Solo attendees are especially welcome.

One more thing...

Please share your favourite stuff.

Thank you all for continuing to share your favourite Monday email quotes. I see them all. I know how much I love seeing impactful quotes from strangers, so it means a lot that you allow me to hopefully be that person for someone else. f there's something you really relate to or know someone who'd benefit from something in this email, please share it and pay it forward. Words are magical, and if I've learned anything from writing these emails to you for years, you never know when someone needs to hear the exact thing you've got to say.
